CEO Interview: Google

Tell us a little bit about your mission at Google. What current project are you most excited about and why?

Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.  Our approach is to empower agencies, developers, researchers, and companies with leading edge data and technology.  Google Cloud accelerates an organization’s digital transformation through data democratization, app and infrastructure modernization, people connections, and trusted transactions. The result is an organization—and its workers—that can take advantage of all the benefits of cloud computing to drive innovation.

I am really excited about the projects we are working on with Hawaii DOT.  We developed an integrated platform that provides insights for climate risk, safety, equity.

You are known for things like Google Search, Maps,  Youtube, Gmail.   How does this apply to the intelligent transportation sector? Do you have any examples you can share of a successful implementation of your technology?

Behind those applications is AI and analytics.  We have brought those capabilities into Google Cloud to democratize the technology behind these widely used consumer applications.  We bring the power of Google’s analytics and AI to transportation agencies to improve mission outcomes.  We love working with transportation agencies like Utah, Hawaii, Colorado and Kentucky who lean into innovation in practical ways.

What are Google’s biggest opportunities in the next 1-2 years?

We have the opportunity to accelerate and scale the impact we can make together.

Google Public Sector is focused on providing digital tools and data analytics to advance mobility, safety, resilience and equity.
